Welcome to the Pine Hill Preserve website. The Pine Hill Preserve grew from efforts to protect the rare and endangered plants that grow on the gabbro soils of western El Dorado County.

Pine Hill Preserve contains a total of 4,746 acres with a high diversity of native plants, and 3,276 of these acres are included in an area designated for the recovery of five federally listed plants (listed as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act). In particular, eight rare plants and a unique natural community are protected within the Preserve. Three species are found nowhere else in the world.

Explore our website to find out more about these interesting plants and how the Preserve came to be.
