Volunteering

Pine Hill Preserve needs the help of dedicated volunteers. Together we can protect, enhance, and share our knowledge of this unique area. You are welcome to sign up for more than one category.

The following are the categories of volunteer opportunities:

HRT - Planting project at Salmon Falls unit Organized groups, as well as individuals, are welcome to join the Habitat Restoration Team (HRT).

The following are examples of HRT activities:

  • maintaining trails
  • controlling erosion
  • collecting seed
  • planting native species
  • restoring disturbed areas
  • eradicating noxious weeds
  • fencing off designated areas

Volunteer Naturalists are the primary contact for visitors to the Pine Hill Preserve.

Naturalists:

  • lead nature walks
  • speak to school groups
  • staff information booths at public events, and
  • share their knowledge and enthusiasm for the natural history and ecology of this unique ecosystem.

The Preserve Watch Team is comprised of friends and neighbors who observe, record and report activities and changes that occur at the Pine Hill Preserve.
